1 c. canned milk
2 1/2 c. water
3/4 c. honey
3 tsp. salt
2 heaping T. shortening
3 packages dry yeast
6-8 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald 1 cup of canned milk with 2 1/2 cups of water. Add 3/4 cup of honey, 3 tsp.of salt and 2 T. of shortening, stirring until dissolved.

Remove one cup of liquid and use to dissolve three packages of dry yeast. When liquid is cool, add yeast and 6 to 8 cups of flour. Knead 5-10 minutes. Let rise until size doubles, from 45 minutes until 2 hours. Make into rolls. Let rise until sizes double, up to two hours.

Bake at 400ºF for 10 to 15 minutes, or until brown.

My Grandmother taught my Dad to make these, and he taught me. We have them every year for Thanksgiving.
