2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add unbeaten egg and vanilla. Beat thoroughly. Sift flour, measure, and sift with salt and baking powder. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Pour into well oiled loaf pan. Bake in 375 degree oven for 35 minutes.
