1 c. shortening or half butter and half shortening
3½ c. flour or slightly less
1 tsp. baking powder
1½ c. sugar
½ tsp. salt
2 eggs
1½ tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
1 lb. confectioner's sugar (about 3 cups)
2 unbeaten egg whites
½ shortening (or butter half and half)
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening. Add sugar and cream together. Add eggs and beat until creamy. Add vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Refrigerate 1-2 hours before rolling. Roll dough on floured pastry cloth and cut out with Christmas cookie cutters. Bake at 375º for 6 minutes.

When cookies are cool, combine frosting ingredients. Separate frosting into small bowls and color with food coloring. Frost cookies and decorate with colored sugar, sprinkles, etc.
