Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 pounds of ground beef
2 eggs
2 pieces of bread
Ice cold water
Salt and pepper
Tomato sauce, sliced onion, Catsup

Soak the bread in the ice cold water. (I cut off the crust) Squeeze out all of the water and discard the water. Beat the eggs and the bread together. Add in salt and cracked pepper. Bob's Mom put in some horseradish and I've been doing that. I like the extra zip. Now add in the ground beef. Here is Grandma's secret. Work the ground beef for a long, long time. The appearance of the meat will change; the meat looks more fine. Form it into a loaf. Place the meatloaf into a loaf pan and put water around it and a small can of tomato sauce. Put sliced onions on top. Put ketchup on top. Bake 350º hint: I tried this with gluten free bread and was not happy with the result.

Personal Notes:
Harley Roscoe Hinkle was born September 4, 1896 at Big Isaac in Doodridge County, West Virginia. His parents were Aninias Hinkle and Sarah Jeanetta Dennison. Our ancestor Abraham (Henckle)Hinkle (1749-1815)built a fort in Germany Valley, Virginia. This was when West Virginia was part of the state of Virginia. West Virginia became a state during the Civil War when they left Virginia over differences on slavery. He built the fort to protect his family from Indians, but this fort was used in the Revolutionary War. You are therefore entitled to be a daughter of the American Revolution. Peggy, Cindy, Skip, Aunt Juanita, and myself visited the site of the fort. The family settled here because it reminded them of where they were from in Germany. Harley is descended from a famous German pastor, Anthony Jacob Henckel born in 1668. Harley had two brothers who lived to adulthood, Homer and Howard. When Great Grandpa Aninias Hinkle sold the homestead, he retained the mineral rights to this property. It is registered to the names of the four Hinkle cousins in the Doodridge County Courthouse.
