Yams 10-12
Butter 2 sticks cut in small cubes
Brown sugar, never measured just added to taste, usually a small box depending on how many yams

Peel and cut yams into chunks. Don’t make them to small cause they will get mushy, try to keep all same size. I prepared day prior and pre cook so you only have to heat in oven on day of. Dot with butter and sprinkle brow sugar to cover all the yams.

Cover large pan with foil and bake at 350 until softened by not fully cooked. This time will vary depending on how many yams you have. I always used a big roaster pan to try and have a single layer but hardly ever worked cause I cooked so many. It’s hit an miss, trial and error, make it your own.

Grandma Carmen always burned these and that’s why everyone liked them so much.
You can probably broil them a little to get that burned look.
