2⅔ cup sugar
⅔ cup shortening
1 can ( 16 0z) pumpkin
⅔ cup water
4 eggs
3⅓ cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
1½ tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
½ tsp baking powder
⅔ coarsely chopped walnuts-optional

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Grease bottoms only of 2 loaf pans
Mix sugar and shortening-stir in pumpkin, water and eggs. Mix well!
Gradually add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and baking powder. Again mix well.
Stir in nuts.
Pour into pans.
Bake 1 hour 10 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Although this recipe uses shortening, like crisco, I am not too hesitant to bake this because it is good!
