4 1/2 C flour
1 1/2 C butter
3 eggs
1 1/2 C sugar
1 pkg yeast (optional)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cut butter into flour and salt mixture. Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla together. Pour egg mixture into flour mixture. Add yeast (if desired) and knead lightly. Roll between sheets of waxed paper or parchment paper. Cut with cookie cutters and remove scraps. Bake on waxed paper on cookie sheet at 375º until they just begin to brown at the edges.

I can not remember ever adding yeast to this recipe. We made a lot of these for sugar cookies at Christmas before Mary got Lenore's sugar cookie recipe.
