1 box of raisins
1 c. cold water
1 T. soda
2 c. sugar
½ c. shortening
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
½ c. nut meats

Directions:
Directions:
Put raisins on to cook in 2 c. of cold water. Let this come to a boil and boil for 15 minutes. Add cold water and soda. Set aside. Cream sugar and shortening together. Sift flour, salt, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Alternately add cooled raisin mixture and dry ingredients. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and fold in nuts. Pour into loaf pan and bake at 350° for approximately one hour.
