Notes: This is a unique recipe that is absolutely delicious. When people bite into this candy, they expect that fruitcake taste, but it is far more fabulous than fruitcake. It has the appearance of fruitcake because of the chopped cherries. This recipe was passed down from my grandmother Lucy Sears. The family (Marian Sears Pickren) generally makes this treat at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had access to pecans each year through Aunt Helen Long's and Uncle Ed Long's pecan orchard. We would gather pecans and process them for the freezer. Great family memories!!!!!
