Ingredients:
1 ½ c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
¾ tsp. salt
¾ c. milk
1 egg beaten

Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together, add egg and milk and stir only until well blended.

Drop by spoonfuls into your boiling chicken soup/stew. If you dip your spoon first into the hot soup/stew mixture and then into the dumpling batter, this will make the batter slide easily off the spoon. Cook 20 minutes in a tightly covered kettle. Be sure the stew mixture is steaming briskly when putting the dumpling batter in. Do not peek while the dumplings are cooking. You can add 3-4 Tbls. of finely chopped parsley or chives to the sifted ingredients if you like.
