1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 squares baking chocolate (if using powered cocoa use 6 level T. of powdered cocoa melted with 2 T. butter or shortening. This will equal 2 squares of baking chocolate.)
1/2 c. butter or shortening (this will be in addition to the butter/shortening used to make the chocolate squares)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. Milk
1 egg
Nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift brown sugar, flour and baking powder together. Set aside.
Melt chocolate with butter and vanilla. Set aside.
Mix milk and eggs together.
Stir all ingredients together.
Add nuts (optional)

Grease cookie sheet or not according to the pan.
Drop by spoonful's onto a cookie sheet

Bake at 350º F (or less) for 10-12 minutes.

Frost with your choice of frosting. (homemade or store bought).
