1/2 C. shortening (Crisco) or butter (Grandma uses Crisco)
1/2 C. white sugar
1/2 C. light brown sugar
2 C. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C. cocoa
1/2 C. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Icing:
1/4 C. butter, softened
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 C. confectioner's sugar
1/4 C. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Combine dry ingredients.
Cream shortening and sugars.
Blend in egg and vanilla.
Add flour and milk, alternately, ending with milk.
Roll into balls or use #60 scoop.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Do not overbake!
Frosting:
Combine shortening, salt and vanilla and 1/3 of sugar.
Add milk and remaining sugar, alternately, mixing until smooth and creamy.
Add more sugar to thicken or more milk to thin.
Cool and spread with icing.
Sprinkle with red/green sugar at Christmas!
