1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. salt
1 cup raisins or nuts (optional)

Icing:
3 tbsp. butter
3/4 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. milk
1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream together sugar and shortening. Add pumpkin, egg, and vanilla.

2. Sift and add the dry ingredients. Drop by teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350ºF for 10-15 minutes.

Icing:
1. Combine butter, vanilla, milk, and brown sugar. Cook over low heat to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.

2. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar until thick enough to spread.
