5½ c. "bite-sized" shredded rice
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1½ c dates
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp salt
½ c walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Put the sugar, dates, and well-beaten eggs in large skillet. Mix well. Cook over low heat till dates are soft and thick. Stirring constantly. Add nuts, vanilla and salt; mix. Add 4 cups crushed shredded rice. Mix well. Set aside to cool.

Drop by teaspoon into the remainder 1½ cups shredded rice. Roll into ball and put on wax paper.

Shredded rice is no longer available. I wonder if Rice Krispies or crushed Rice Chex would do the same thing?
