3/4 C shortening (I use softened butter)
1 C sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
for shaping cookies:
mix together 1/4 C sugar
1/2-3/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
stir well all ingredients together until well combined to make the dough.
cover bowl with a towel and chill dough for 1 hour.
make small balls from the dough about 1 inch in diameter.
place cookies on baking sheet 2 inches apart
mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
dip the bottom of a glass in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and flatten cookies with the bottom of the glass on the baking sheet before baking
bake at 400º 6-8 minutes.
cookies should be barely turning brown for best results.
