3/4 c. raisins
1/2 c. salted peanuts
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. quick oats
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. dark molasses
2 eggs
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Chop raisins and peanuts. Set aside. Mix flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together in large bowl. Cut in shortening until it forms fine crumbs. Add raisin/nut mixture, sugar and oats. In small bowl, dissolve baking soda in the buttermilk. Add the molasses and eggs. Add flour mixture and mix well. Drop by Tbsp. on greased cookie sheet. Flatten, beat an egg and brush tops of cookies with it. Bake at 375º for 8-10 mins.
