Directions:
Grandma's
Cream butter & sugar. Add egg and oil. Beat well. Add dry ingredients and vanilla. Mix well. Chill few hours or over night. Remove from frig for a half hour so it is warmed up a bit. Roll dough in small balls, dip in sugar. Bake 350 degrees, 325 on convention oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Jan's
Heat oven to 375 -combine  butter and sugars in large bowl until creamy-add egg and vanilla-continue beating till well mixed-on low speed add flour and baking soda-beat until forms a ball -cover and chill 1 hour-roll in small balls and flatten or roll between waxed paper to 1/4 inch thickness and use floured cookie cutters {NE } or any shape-Bake 7 to 9 mins or until the edges are slightly brown--do not over bake--let cool on cookie sheet one minute-then move to rack to cool
Any frosting will do-I always add some cream cheese for extra flavor and more vanilla makes about two dozen depending on size of cutters-you can also roll in balls and flatten with bottom of glass -enjoy
