Sift: 1 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt

Cream together:
1/2 c of shortening
1/2 c brown sugar firmly packed
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 egg
1/2 c peanut butter
1 T water
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Mix in flour mixture.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
Press lightly with fork dipped in flour.
Bake at 325° for 15 to 20 minutes.

Grandpa Riley’s favorite cookies. As children when we visited Grandma and Grandpa’s there we always some in the kitchen in the aluminum bun warmer.
