350º 20 minutes

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pitted dates
1 egg, beaten
Confectioner's sugar (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, mix together sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Add dates and stir until dates are coated. Stir in beaten egg until well mixed. Dough will be very thick.

Spread evenly into a 9 x 9 x 2 greased pan and bake at 350º for 20 minutes or until rich golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

While warm, cut into 36 squares. Cool in pan on rack. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
