Personal Notes:

Chocolate chip cookies are one of the most popular kinds. They originated in the late 1930s by Ruth Wakefield who ran the Toll House restaurant in Whitcomb, Massachusetts. She invented them by accident when she dropped chocolate into her batter to melt while baking. However, the chocolate remained in little bits and did not melt. The cookies, later published in her cookbook, were intended to accompany ice cream.

During the time I lived in the Kappa Kappa Gamma house in Ann Arbor, our house mother, Mrs. Kelly, made sure that we had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies every day for lunch. We devoured them while watching Jeopardy! Thus began my love of chocolate chip cookies (and Jeopardy)!

I have tried several chocolate chip cookie recipes including making changes to make them my own. This one is a variation of a popular hotel brand. It is the best...so far.
