1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup raisins boiled and cooked (save liquid)
2 cups oatmeal
3 cups flour
1 rounded teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 scant teaspoon soda
1 cup water (from boiling raisins)

1. Cream shortening and sugar
2. Add egg, then mix together
4. Add soda to raisin water and add all the other ingredients
5. Mix all ingredients thoroughly
6. Bake at 350º F for 12-15 minutes
7. Enjoy!

This was originally my great-grandmother's recipe. During the holiday season, she would make these amazing oatmeal raisin cake cookies that have always been one of my favorite desserts. I made a batch myself and finished all the cookies in three days! I hope that you all can enjoy this recipe as much as I do!
