2 sticks of butter
1 stick of margarine
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg yolk
3 cups sifted plain flour
1/2 candied cherry of pecan half for each cookie

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add vanilla and egg yolk. Add flour 1 cup at a time. Roll dough into balls 1-inch in diameter. Put on a greased cookie sheet. Decorate with cherry halves or pecans. Bake at 325º until edges are lightly brown.

I received this this recipe on a hand-written card from Rebecca Gladden some time in the 1980s. I think that it was part of a cookie-swap at Tifton First United Methodist Church.
