½ c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
½ tsp. vanilla extract
½ tsp. salt
1½ c. flour
½ tsp. food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and salt; mix.
Add flour; mix. Shape dough into ball on plastic wrap.
Cut dough in half, and set one half aside. Put on gloves, and press a well into remaining dough. Add food coloring, and mix until well incorporated. Roll dough out into rectangle with wax paper on top. Chill. Roll out uncolored dough into similarly sized rectangle with wax paper on top. Put colored dough on top of uncolored dough, and use plastic wrap to roll doughs together into a log shape.
Roll log in holiday sprinkles to coat outer edge. Wrap log in plastic wrap and chill for at least four hours.
Remove log from fridge; remove from plastic wrap. Cut into cookies, and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 375ºF for about eight minutes.
