Nanny was always there for me…after we moved to Massachusetts, she would travel, by train to NYC, then by bus to Boston where we would pick her up. She came to all my important events, like high school and college graduation, my wedding. When my babies were born, she still came to visit, and to be there for the Baptisms. It was a sad day for our family when we said goodbye to Nanny.

Here are some pictures of Nanny and me…special times in my life. (Too bad her eyes are closed in the wedding picture. The 2nd one is on Uncle Mike’s wedding day…I was the flower girl. 3rd one is my high school graduation)

I remember Aunt Sadie when she came to my mother's funeral at St. John's Cemetary in Middle Village, Queens. At the end of the very sad service, she and her daughter Theresa Gargiulo, set out to find her mother's grave, which was close by.....after a time of searching with no luck, she started to call out, "Mama, mama".....as if she expected an answer....she did find the grave, but did she actually get an answer???
