1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2½ cups blended oatmeal (measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder)
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
4 oz Hershey™ bar (or other chocolate), grated
12 oz chocolate chips
1½ cups chopped nuts (optional)

Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; mix together with the flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add chocolate chips, Hershey® bar and nuts. Roll into balls and place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 10 minutes at 375º or until lightly browned. Cool on pan for 3 minutes. Transfer to wire rack.

Convection oven 350º for 8 minutes

This recipe is the all time favorite, most asked for cookie in our family. It can easily be doubled and/or used as a big cookie for Holidays or Birthdays. The candy bar chocolate is the "secret ingredient" that adds that extra sweet goodness and stand out flavor. Grating the chocolate is time consuming and I learned over the years to chop it with my large knife or even put it into my ninja food processor.
