2 cups washed split peas
1 cup washed barley
4q + 1c water
1 10oz can of rotel
1 ham bone
1lb/2cups ham, diced

1 heaping cup of carrots, chopped
5 stalks celery, chopped
1 large yellow onion, chopped
Handful of parsley, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
¾ tsp pepper
Salt to taste

Add first group of ingredients to soup pot and simmer covered for 1hr
Remove scum
Add vegetables and cook for another hour
