Notes: The origins of this recipe was always shrouded in secrecy. My grandmother, Eleanor, said that she was given the base recipe from an unnamed friend that may (or may not) have worked for a famous cookie franchisor. Be prepared to share! This recipe makes a LOT! Divide the dough to fold in the chips and nuts as it can quickly overwhelm a mixer. I prefer to mix up a variety of options (ex. with and without nuts, added M&M's or Reese Pieces for the kids, chocolate and peanut butter chips, chocolate and mint chips). Great for bake sales! Make sure to cool the pans completely between batches and don't let the dough get too warm. The aluminum foil along with a cool pan and dough is key to this cookie not being too crispy or soft.
