Parts of a duck including the blood
Celery and onion
Raisins and prunes
salt and pepper
4 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp flour
Boiled noodles

Directions:
Directions:
1. Boil wings, gizzard, neck of the duck along with celery and onion until tender.
2. Add raisins, prunes, salt and pepper to taste...heat on low
3. Add to the duck blood the sugar & flour and mix.
4. Pour blood mixture into soup when it is NOT BOILING.
5. Add boiled noodles.

Czarnina is a Polish dish which was often made around the holidays or when people had ducks to sell. I remember eating it at our grandparent's house, made by Grandma Minnie Jablonski, along with her homemade noodles. Most but not all of us kids liked this soup, especially when we were allowed to put a tsp of sugar in it. Others liked it with vinegar. I think it's an acquired taste though, as none of our children liked it...especially after finding out what it was made from.
