3 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar
3/4 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 c shortening
1 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º
In large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tartar.
Mix in shortening until looks like coarse meal.
Add milk, mix until moist.
On lightly floured surface, pat mixture into shape about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
Cut with round cutter, place on greased pan with edges lightly touching.

Bake 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

After years of baking without, grandma decided to start adding cream of tartar to several of her standard products. The original biscuits did not have cream of tartar and sugar.
