1 cup Shortening (Crisco)
1 cup Sugar
2 Eggs - well beaten
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and vanilla, then the salt and flour. Beat into a stiff dough. Drop onto a greased cookie sheet about 1 lnch apart. Press a pecan or cherry half in the middle of each cookie before baking.

Bake at 350º for 12 minutes or until cookies are lightly brown.

If you would like chocolate cookies, add a heaping tablespoon of cocoa.
