1 cup sugar
¼ cup butter
1 beaten egg
2 cups chopped apples
1 cut of sifted flour with 1 tsp soda
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ to 1 cup nuts
1/8 tsp. salt

Topping for the Torte:
½ cup butter
½ cup cream
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar then add beaten egg and the rest of the torte ingredients.
Mix well.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes in a 9 X 9 pan.

Cook topping for the Torte over slow heat until slightly thickened.
Pour over baked Apple Torte

I have not tried this recipe but thought I would include it as I found this in an old handwritten cookbook of Corrina's and both Grandma Emma and Girlie had the same recipe in the book so I figured it must be good !! Only Girlie's recipe had the vanilla in the torte topping. Grandma Emma's did not.

I think a 9 X 9 pan sounds sort of small for the recipe, but I've never made it.
