  • 8 oz tub of Cool Whip

  • 2 c mini marshmallows

  • 1 c sweetened shredded coconut flakes

  • 2 cans of fruit cocktail, drained

  • 1 can of mandarin orange slices, drained



  • Directions:

  • Mix together Cool Whip and sour cream in a large bowl.

  • Add in the marshmallows and coconut.

  • Fold in the drained fruit.

  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

    Both Kara and Jenny remember eating Ambrosia at holiday dinners when they were young and in recent years, have served it at gatherings with family and friends. The recipe above has been replicated and served to many of us over the years.

    Note: For those of you who have not eaten Ambrosia, it's like eating sweet dessert "dressed up" like a salad, so it's likely the sweetness was the trigger for these memories... especially since neither of them ate much as kids besides maybe some mashed potatoes with a divot in the middle for Gram's "just right" gravy.
