⅔ c butter
⅓ c sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
1 ½ c white flour
2 slightly beaten egg whites
¾ c of finely chopped pecans or crushed cornflakes if you want nut free treats.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks, vanilla and ½ tsp salt and beat well.
Gradually add flour, mixing well. Shape into ¾ inch balls and dip in egg whites and then roll in nuts or cornflakes. Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Press down centers with thumb. Bake at 350F oven for 15 to 17 minutes.

Cool slightly and remove from pan and cool on wire rack. Just before serving, fill the centers with jelly or jam preserves. (I use homemade crabapple jelly)
