1/2 cup Crisco shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sour milk
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together with shortening, vanilla and sugar. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Stir in the dry ingredients alternatively with milk and mashed bananas. (To make the sour milk, add 1 TBSP vinegar or lemon juice to milk). Mix until smooth. Stir in nuts.

Bake in greased 5 X 9 inch loaf pan or 2 3 X 7 Inch pans. Bake 50 to 60 minutes at 350º.

If you live in high altitudes, I put 3 TBSP of flour. Put toothpick in the middle to see if the pick comes out clean. If not, bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes longer.
