1½ cups brown sugar
½ cup shortening
1 egg
(Mix these 3 ingredients well.)
¼ cup butter milk, may substitute sweet milk with 1 Tbs. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbs. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2¾ cups flour
1 tsp. of cinnamon
2 cups chopped apples
1 cup nuts, chopped

Bake at 400º for 10 min.
Glace when warm.

1 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbs. butter
1½ Tbs. of milk
