1 C. SHORTENING 1 TSP. SODA
2 C. BROWN SUGAR 1/2 TSP. SALT
2 EGGS 2 C. QUICK COOK OATS
1 TSP. VANILLA 3/4 C. CHOPPED WALNUTS
2 C. FLOUR 12 OZ. PKG. CHOCOLATE CHIPS

CREAM BUTTER, SUGAR, EGGS, VANILLA UNTIL FLUFFY. STIR IN SODA, SALT, AND FLOUR. ADD 1/2 PKG. CHOCOLATE CHIPS. ADD OATS. BLEND. SPREAD BATTER IN JELLY ROLL PAN (15" X 10") SPRINKLE WITH NUTE AND REMAINING CHOCOLATE CHIPS.

BAKE: 400º FOR 10-12 MINUTES. THEY WON'T LOOK DONE BUT DON'T OVERBAKE. COOL BEFORE CUTTING INTO SQUARES.
