Ingredients:
Ingredients:
6 tbl cocoa
1 cup margarine, no substitutes
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond flavor
Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
6 tbl cocoa
6 tbl butter
5 tbl milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the margarine, cocoa and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well between each addition. Add salt and flavorings. Add the flour and mix until combined, scraping down the sides. Mixture will be thick.
Make frosting. Heat your waffle iron and spray with nonstick spray. Take a scoopful of batter and place in each waffle square and lower the lid. Cook for approximately a minute or two. Every waffle iron cooks differently but you can pretty much smell when they're finished. Peel out with a fork. If it separates it is not done. **Do not overcook** Frost while warm. ENJOY!!
Frosting: In a large bowl, cream butter until smooth, then gradually beat in sugar mixture alternately with milk. Blend in vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Frost while warm. Should be thin but not runny. If necessary, adjust consistency with more milk or sugar.

Grandma would make several batches of these for every road trip and camping trip. They sustained us.
