Directions:
1. Heat oven to 325º

2. Sift together 3 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, and 1 tablespoon sugar into large bowl.

3. Add shortening and butter. Cut in like you do with pie crust.

4. Combine egg yolks, evaporated milk, vanilla, and yeast. Add to flour mixture and mix well.

5. Wrap dough and refrigerate overnight

6. Next day, mix 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 cup powdered sugar in a small bowl.

7. Work with small pieces of dough at a time. Roll out onto a board sprinkled with the mixture of flour, sugar, and powdered sugar. Roll thin and cut into about 1/2 inch wide and about 5 to 6 inches long.

8. Foil and grease round clothes pins.

9. Wrap dough strips around clothes pins, overlapping a little each time. Place on cookie sheets.

10. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes

11. Let cool and carefully remove cookie from clothes pin and roll in remaining flour, sugar, powdered sugar mixture. Place on cooling rack.

12. Make icing (see Grandma Salak's icing recipe)

13. Fill lady locks with icing and place in container.
