Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup Crisco or oleo
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
4 Tablespoons milk
3 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Can’t use mixer for more than 1st ingredients + 1 cup flour. Gets too heavy. CHILL very thoroughly. Take out about 1/2 dough at a time and roll in as little flour as possible and as thin as possible.

Whole recipe makes about 6 cookie sheets full. You can freeze dough for later use if well wrapped. If decorating with colored sugar, put colored sugar on before baking.

(She doesn’t mention what temperature to bake or for how long.). I’d try 350º for approximately 10 minutes. Check often after 10 minutes if not quite done baking.

Personal Notes:
I entered just as Grandmere’s recipe reads. My recipe was written by Grandmere and at the bottom she has written her grandmother’s name, Hilda Peterson Parsons, this was Neola Johnson’s mother. So, SIX generations have enjoyed rolled sugar cookies - obviously a family favorite! See also Meghan's Sugar Cookies and Icing.
