Cookie Mixture:
1 ½ c. brown sugar
¾ c. shortening
3 eggs, beaten
1 ½ tsp. orange rind, grated
1 tsp. vanilla
½ c. buttermilk
½ tsp. baking soda
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
3 c. flour
¾ cup nuts, chopped (walnuts work well)

Frosting:
2 tsp. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
2 tsp. orange rind, grated
orange juice, to spread

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º
Mix cookie mixture ingredients together well
Drop mixture onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º for ten minutes

Meanwhile, mix ingredients for frosting.
Let cookies cool, then frost.
