1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs beaten
2 cups apple sauce( I always used a can)
1 cup nuts (optional)
2 cups raisins (optional)
1 package chocolate chips
beat well
Add
4 cups flour
2 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350

Mix well
Drop from spoon on greased cookie sheet.
bake 10-14 minutes.

These are from a Panguitch Stake cookbook from many years ago. I imagine the 30's. I used to have the book but it has been lost. In the book the recipe was given by Suza Walker.
