1 c. Shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. brown sugar firmly packed
2 eggs separated
1 T. cold water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 bag chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening until light. Gradually add white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Beat until light. Add slightly beaten egg yolks, water, and vanilla. Blend thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Combine thoroughly. Spread evenly into 2 greased 8x12 pans. smooth out dough with spatula. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Beat egg whites until stiff. Gradually add remaining brown sugar while continuing to beat. Spread smoothly on chocolate chips. Bake in 375 º oven for 20-25 min. Allow to stand until almost cool. Carefully cut with paring knife into 2" squares. Let stand out overnight.
