Grandma Catherine's Apple Pie Recipe

Pie Filling:

6 cups tart apples
3/4-1 cup sugar
1 Tbs. butter
1 teas cinnamon
1/2 teas nutmeg
6 Tbs. of Flour
Tbs molasses


Pie Crust:
2 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup Crisco
8 Tbs. ice cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Pie crust:
Combine flour and salt
Cut in Crisco (shortening) into flour mix with a pastry blender to small uniform pea-size pieces.
Sprinkle with cold water and blend.
Roll out dough on floured space to pie pan size.
Place dough in pie pan, crimp crust.

Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees

Pie filling:
slice apples toss with brown sugar, cinnamon and molasses.
Pour into crust
cut up butter and place around pie and filling
Place top of pie on filling.
poke pie top with a fork.

Place pie on lowest rack and TURN down the oven to 350 degrees
Bake 35-45 until apples are soft.
