Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
1 stick butter softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
4 oz (half a pack) or softened cream cheese
2 tsp vanilla
Large pitted maraschino cherries, cut each in half
cooking spray for pan

Directions:
Directions:
In a bowl mix flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda, mix well and set aside.

Put butter, cream cheese, vanilla, egg and sugar into mixer and beat until fluffy. Slowly add flour mix until fully incorporated into a soft dough. You can put it back in bowl and cover to chill, or you can put it on a piece of wax/parchment paper in a log shape, twisting ends to fully enclose or wrap log in plastic wrap, keep it covered and moist to chill about 1 hour. This makes alot of cookies so you can freeze any of it at this point to save for another time.

Preheat oven to 375º. Take chilled dough and break into small rounded balls, not too round, keep them roughly shaped, press to flatten slightly on to greased pan then press half a cherry in top. Can add little green sugar sprinkles on tops around the cherry for Christmas. Place them somewhat close but not touching, maybe inch apart, they don't puff up too much. Complete remaining cookies then put pan in oven for 10 minutes, until very slightly browned on edges. Remove to cooling rack.

These cookies are so pretty, soft and tasty. They are fun to make with the sprinkles and look great in boxes of Christmas cookies as gifts.
