1 cup butter (Grandma used Crisco)
3 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
4 Tbsp. sour milk
1 teas. Vanilla
1 teas. Rum
2 teas. Baking powder
1 teas. Salt
6 cups flour
2 cups combined :
Raisins, dates, currents, candied fruit (red & green cherries, Pineapple)
1 cup walnuts or pecans

Cream butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs and sour milk, mix well.

Add Vanilla and Rum. Mix Baking Powder and Salt into flour. Add flour to mixture until just blended. Do not over mix, the dough will get tough. Add the fruit and nuts. Use a small cookie scoop and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Watch them to see how long it takes. As usual the more fruit and nuts you use, the better they are.
