FIRST LAYER:
1/2 c margarine or butter
1 egg
1-1/4 c sifted all purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla

SECOND LAYER:
2 eggs
1 1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c flaked coconut
1 c chopped pecans
2 T flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

ICING:
1 c confectioner's sugar
2 T fresh lemon juice

FIRST LAYER:
Cream until well blended 1/2 c margarine (or butter). Beat in 1 egg. Combine 1-1/4 c sifted all purpose flour and 1/8 tsp salt. All these dry ingredients in about 3 parts to butter mixture blending well. Work in 1/2 tsp vanilla. Use a knife or pat with hands and spread dough evenly in a 9x12" pan. Bake in 350º oven for about 15 minutes. WATCH CAREFULLY!

SECOND LAYER:
Combine all ingredients thoroughly and spread on top of the first layer. Bake at 350º for 20-22 minutes.

ICING:
When still warm, ice cake with 1 c confectioner's sugar thinned to a spread consistency with 2 T FRESH lemon juice. This makes a thin coating over the cake. Cut into 32 squares.
