Personal Notes:
My, brother, Sonny and I would take the bus to Negaunee, MI (17 miles) from Marquette, MI.
The bus would let us off in front of Lowenstein’s Department Store, and we would run up the stairs. Nanny always had the sugar cookies cooling on the counter. We would grab one before we did anything. How she knew when we would be there?

We couldn’t find Nanny’s recipe. Sweet Pete and I were in the Copper Country in the U.P. We went into Tony’s Bakery (Eric Frimadig) and in the case were the Sugar Cookies. He called them “Cousin Jack’s”. I had to have one right away, also makes the best Pasties in the world besides mine, of course. I found out about Tony’s from his Aunt Jean Frimadig (I use to china paint with her). She use to make the plastic needlepoint Christmas ornaments, and I would sell them at my work for her. She would make enough money to buy an airline ticket to the U.P for Christmas. I did that for a few years. I told him who I was, and he remembered that I had sold the ornaments for Jean. I asked him if I could have the recipe for the Sugar cookies. He had to figure out how to make a small batch. Funny
