¾ Cup soft shortening (butter flavored Crisco)
1 Cup packed brown sugar
½ Cup granulated sugar
1 egg
¼ Cup water
1 tsp vanilla
1 Cup sifted flour
1½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
3 Cups uncooked oats

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water & vanilla together until creamy.

Sift together flour, salt & baking soda. Add to creamed mixture. Bland well.

Stir in oats. Optional: chocolate chips, nuts, raisins, or coconut.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet(s)

Bake in preheated oven 350º for 12 to 15 minutes or until bottom edge is brown.
