1/2 cup shortening
2 cups light brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
3 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. milk
1 cup nut meats

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Beat eggs until fluffy. Sift flour with baking soda and cream of tartar and add into mixture. Mix well. Add vanilla, milk, and nuts. Mix and form into a long roll about one and one half inches in diameter . Place in refrigerator over night. Slice into one fourth inch slices. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350º for about 12 minutes
