Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Fruit
6 cooker apples or apples of your choice; peeled, cored and sliced or chopped
¼-½ cup sugar, depending on sweetness of the apples
3 Tbsp arrowroot or cornstarch
3 Tbsp water

Optional Possibilites
½-1 cup foraged blackberries

Crumble
½ cup all-purpose flour blend
½ cup gluten-free oats or buckwheat flakes
½ cup chopped nuts
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF. In a saucepan, add the apples, sugar, arrowroot/cornstarch and water. Mix well and heat over medium heat until the mixture is well coated, this will begin the process of the apples softening and the sauce forming. After a few minutes, pour the mixture into your chosen baking dish. Next, make the crumble topping by combining the ingredients in a bowl. Mix by hand or with a mixer until the mixture is crumbly and there are no lumps of butter or dust remaining.

Crumble the mixture evenly over the apples and place in the oven. Bake for 50 minutes to an hour or until the crumble is golden brown and the apples are bubbly. Remove the crumble from the oven and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes. This will give plenty of time for ice cream to soften if you choose to have a scoop on the side. Otherwise, this crumble stands well on its own.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
You can gauge the size of pan to use depending on how many servings you need. For an easy dessert, I like to make crumble in a deep pie plate; however, if we have company, then I use a cake pan, approximately 8x11. Keep in mind, you will need to increase the amount of apples and sugar used as well as increase the ingredients for the topping. You can make this crumble ahead of time. Allow the crumble to cool to room temperature and reheat in a moderate oven.
